Colwyn Bay R.B.L. 2010 Binns Cup Runners-Up
Binns Cup. The final this year will be between Denbigh Lower Park BC and Colwyn Bay RBL following the semi-finals played on Friday July 16th
Denbigh Lower Park BC "A" won by 239 points to Rhos Park "A" 185 points at Rhuddlan BC to record a comprehensive win securing a win in 9 of the 12 matches played. In the other semi-final played at St Asaph BC, Colwyn Bay RBL comfortably beat last years beaten finalists Meliden BC who fielded a weakened side due to holidays by 238 points to 151 points securing an even larger comprehensive win in 10 of the 12 matches.
The final will be staged as always on the set date the third Sunday in August the 15th (as on the last 20 years) at Rhos on Sea BC.
The match is set for an interesting climax to the competition with both sides having current and past Welsh Internationals in both sides, especially with Colwyn bay RBL being strengthened with three players who have had experience in playing in a Binns Cup final previously with Sunny Rhyl. Denbigh Lower Park BC has won the Binns Cup on 5 previous occasions since 1990 the last time in 2001. Colwyn Bay RBL have never won the Binns Cup previously or thought to have been in this final in their history so it will be an occasion for them.
Since the winners go on to compete in the Welsh Club Championship to be staged in the Flintshire Area later in September the ultimate prize is to compete in the British Club Championship and to gain an invitation to a Club Championship Competition in Irlam in the early part of 2011. For the last two years the winners of the Binns Cup St Asaph have been runners up to the Wrexham Area Champions
The company already enjoys many of the bowling fraternity among it's customer list
and indeed as Russell Jones himself admit's the heavy bowling league and cup
programme can create havoc with installation dates.
The sponsorship funds will go a long way to helping to replace many of our ageing
Trophies as well as purchasing our own scoreboards and enabling to top up our prize
money for some of our prestige events.

Esclusham beat Bailey Hill (Flintshire) in the final, at a superb Ruabon venue, where the green and organisation was excellent, this win arguably makes them the best team in Wales for the 2012 season after winning the Wrexham Premier division, the Welsh Counties League and their own area County Cup.
